The star of the show, however, was the Asus ZenBook Duo series, the first for Asus and also world’s first dual screen laptop. The series has two laptops — ZenBook Duo (base model) and ZenBook Pro Duo (top-end model). At the launch event Asus confirmed that the ZenBook Duo series will be available in Q3 of 2019. Speaking to Indian tech journalists, the Asus management team confirmed that the ZenBook Duo and ZenBook Pro Duo would hit the Indian market in September or in early October. At the launch event, I spent some time with both the Asus ZenBook Duo and ZenBook Pro Duo. My quick impression: The Duo or the Duo Pro can be a great option for creators and multi-taskers out there. The first thing that strikes the mind when you look at both the laptops is the stunning design. Both the laptops under the ZenBook Duo series sport the same design. The ZenBook Duo series comes with Zen-inspired spun-metal finish and frameless four-sided NanoEdge design, with ultraslim bezels, and pretty compact form factor. The new ZenBook Duos include main screen and right below that sits the secondary screen or ScreenPad Plus which is then followed by the keyboard. The best bit about this laptop is, despite including the ScreenPad Plus and Keyboard, Asus doesn’t miss out of the touchpad. On the right of the keyboard sits the touchpad with which the main screen of the laptops can be controlled. Notably, the second screen of the ZenBook Duo comes with touchscreen feature.advertisement The ZenBook Pro Duo features the latest version of the Asus NumberPad, an LED-illuminated numeric keypad integrated into the touchpad. There’s also Amazon Alexa voice support, with a dedicated light bar at the front of the laptop that illuminates to indicate it’s listening. Smart!Screen and designAs far as the screen is concerned, the Asus ZenBook Duo — base model — comes with 14-inch screen paired with 12.6-inches ScreenPad Plus. In comparison, the Pro model aka ZenBook Pro Duo comes packed with a 15.6-inch main screen paired with 14-inch ScreenPad Plus. Both the main and the second screen use an LCD panel, which I believe could have been brighter and offered better viewing angles. To control the main screen of the ZenBook Duo series users can use the touchpad that sits right next to the keyboard, while the second screen can be controlled via fingertouch. On the ScreenPad Plus the taskbar sits on the left with the help of which the users will be able to perform any and every task they want. So, what’s the idea behind including the second screen on the ZenBook Duo? Speaking to India Today Tech, YC Chen, PC Product Director of Asus, said that the company has designed this laptop with two screen keeping in mind the creators and multitaskers out there.Use caseThe ZenBook Duo lets users split screen to perform as many tasks as possible at the same time. For example, while booking flight tickets we often tend to go back and forth between an open webpage and calendar. This is one instance where the ZenBook Duo makes life easy. The users can simply open the calendar on the second screen, or any other window while the booking can be carried out on the main screen.Another instance where the ZenBook Duo works perfectly is when the users wants to have a bigger pictures of something, say India’s map for example. The India map can be first opened on the main screen and for a better viewing experience can be dragged or extended to the secondary screen — with the help of the touchpad. Check the following picture for better idea. For better user experience, Asus ZenBook Pro Duo comes bundled with a stylus — that can be used to take down notes on the second screen. It also comes with a palm rest that basically enhances ErgoLift — that is what Asus calls the keyboard — tilting keyboard design. In simple words, it is easy to see that whole design will help creators be more productive. Notably, the base model or the ZenBook Duo doesn’t come with palm rest or the stylus.Other thingsAs far as the core hardware is concerned, the ZenBook Pro Duo is powered by 9th-generation Intel Core processor combined with 32GB RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GPU. The ZenBook Pro Duo comes with up to 1TB PCle 3.0 x 4 SSD. In comparison, the ZenBook Duo is powered by Intel Core i7 CPU and GeForce MX250 GPU. The ZenBook Duo series runs on Windows 10 and support IR web camera with Windows Hello support, latest Intel Wifi 6 with Gig+ that takes the wireless speeds to the whole new level.advertisementAdditionally, the ZenBook Pro Duo comes with a dedicated Turbo Fan button that will likely help boost cooling at any given time. In terms of weight, the ZenBook Duo weighs 1.5kg while the Pro version is slightly on the heavier — 2.5kg — because bigger screen.Disclaimer: The reporter’s travel and stay have been arranged by Asus.Get real-time alerts and all the news on your phone with the all-new India Today app. Download from Post your comment Do You Like This Story?
