first_imgJOE DUFFY has reaffirmed his intention to become a ‘free agent’ as the Burtonport man prepares to face Reza Madadi in London in March.The 28-year-old Donegal man will be fighting for the fifth and final time as a UFC fighter, Duffy having become frustrated in the franchise.Duffy (15-2) takes on the 14-4 Madadi on March 18 at The O2 Arena in London and says: “The plan is free agency. Nothing has changed. “But I’ve enjoyed my time with the UFC and I definitely won’t be cutting them out of the picture. We’ll see how this performance goes.”Iranian Madadi lost to Irishman Norman Parke in October 2015.Bar his points loss at the hands of Dustin Poirier, lightweight Duffy has won all of his contests inside the first round.Back in July, lightweight Duffy took just 25 seconds to overcome Mitch Clarke in Las Vegas for what was the fourth-fastest stoppage in MMA history. ‘Mad Dog’ Madadi is a 38-year-old with a 3-2 UFC – 14-4 overall as a mixed martial artist -record and his last fight was a win over Yan Cabral in Rotterdam back in May.Duffy said: He’s never been finished, he’s fit, he’s game everywhere and he’s not afraid to strike.“You need to be as fit as you can be when you’re up against him.
