first_img Facebook Twitter Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue is embarking on an RV tour focused on hearing from farmers about the next Farm Bill. Perdue kicks off the “Back to Our Roots” RV tour on Thursday. This is the first of two RV tours that the Secretary will make this summer. The first tour will feature stops in five states: Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, and Indiana. Along the way, Perdue will meet with farmers, ranchers, foresters, producers, students, governors, Members of Congress, U.S. Department of Agriculture employees,  and others, according to USDA. Secretary Perdue, in a statement, says the tour will allow USDA to hear directly from people in agriculture across the country, as well as from consumers.The Secretary will arrive in Indiana on Tuesday, August 8. His first stop will be the Indianapolis Colts training facility on the west side of Indianapolis.  Here he will participate in an event promoting USDA’s role in the NFL’s “Fuel Up to Play 60” program with retired football great and NFL Hall-of-Famer Marshall Faulk. Then he will attend the Indiana State Fair where he will meet with Governor Eric Holcomb, Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, Indiana Farm Bureau President Randy Kron, and a select group of farm leaders.
