The school opened this school year at 37th Street East and Pearblossom Highway, which is up a small hill from the back of the school. Parents had expressed concerns that vehicles could veer off the road, crashing through a chain-link fence and onto school property. The city has agreed at the district’s request to conduct a traffic study to look at whether the speed limit should be lowered. By state law, speed limits cannot be lowered arbitrarily but must be based on radar survey to determine at what speed 85 percent of vehicles are traveling, city officials said. — Karen Maeshiro, (661) 267-5744 [email protected] PALMDALE – An engineering study financed by the Palmdale School District said a barrier is not needed between Barrel Springs School and Pearblossom Highway because there is no history of any accidents in that area. The district paid for the engineering study after parents expressed concerns about cars and big-rig trucks passing by at 65 mph on the busy highway. “The study showed the risk factor is really low,” Deputy Superintendent Lori Ordway-Peck said. “It does not say you ought to do something because they don’t find in the study that there’s a high-risk factor.” The consultant did come up with suggestions if the district wanted to put up some sort of barrier between the roadway and the school.last_img read more

first_img“After consultation with the Reserve Bank, we agreed to a similar treatment of temporary imports of gold in the compilation of trade statistics,” Sars said in a statement on Wednesday. “The value of goods temporarily imported or exported without a change of ownership should not be reflected as part of merchandise trade statistics. As from February 2009, Sars will be publishing two sets of import data, one including and one excluding temporary imports of gold. The official trade deficit will be calculated from the import figure that excludes temporary imports of gold. Revised trade data 5 February 2009 Sars said the cumulative revised trade deficit for January to December 2008 is R64.5-billion versus a deficit of R69.9-billion for the same period in 2007. South African imports for 2008 have now been revised from R751.14-billion to R727.6-billion, while exports for last year remained at R663.1-billion. “The revised import totals indicate a positive outlook for the South African economy,” Sars said. “Relative to exports, South Africa imported less from the rest of the world over the past year than was initially estimated.” The value of imports of goods classified under natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones, precious metals, metals clad with precious metal and articles, imitation jewellery, and coins was also revised from R27.9-billion to R4.4-billion in relation to monthly trade recorded between July and December 2008.center_img “The trade deficit for 2008, therefore, decreases from R88.05-billion to R64.5-billion, resulting in the downward revision of values of imports of gold by R23.5-billion.” South Africa’s revised trade deficit for 2008 has dropped from R88-billion to R64.5-billion, following a decision by the South African Revenue Service (Sars) and SA Reserve Bank to exclude from the data gold that is imported and refined without a change in ownership. The revised data indicates a trade deficit of R1.6-billion in December 2008 compared with the originally published figure of R9-billion. The revised trade deficits in the third and fourth quarters of 2008 were R19.3-billion and R14.7-billion respectively, compared with the originally published figures of R26.6-billion and R30.9-billion respectively. Bieber fans, fearing the inevitable, abandoned turkey leftovers last weekend to boost “Baby” views, reported The Daily Dot. They encouraged each other on social media to play the hit on repeat, and to run scripts that played “Baby” 75 times at once.  No small percentage of YouTube viewers rejoiced in the dethroning, however, as evidenced by triumphant “Gangnam Style” comments Sunday night across YouTube. “Baby” had reigned for two years as most-viewed on the video-sharing site. The popularity of “Gangnam Style,” however, is unprecedented; the video averages 6.1 million views a day, according to data provided by ChannelMeter, a San Francisco-based startup providing YouTube analytics for online-video publishers and brand advertisers.“Gangnam Style” was uploaded 135 days ago and broke the Guinness World Record for having the most YouTube Likes back in September. Get my first book: The Only Sale Guide You’ll Ever Need “The USA Today bestseller by the star sales speaker and author of The Sales Blog that reveals how all salespeople can attain huge sales success through strategies backed by extensive research and experience.” Buy Now You can’t go back six months and do the prospecting work that you would have needed to do in order to have the opportunities you need in this quarter. Prospecting work doesn’t line up neatly with the results it produces, and there is still no way to cram to make up what you missed down the road. You can’t nurture your dream client after you find out that they became dissatisfied with your competitor, the one they worked with for years, and the one you thought they would never leave. Because you weren’t known, you weren’t invited to compete for the business. In fact, no one even thought of you. While it was happening, you knew that you should not have presented your solution without having collaborated with your prospective client, without having built consensus, and without knowing what you needed to present to get a “yes.” Instead, you got a no. You can’t go back and do that work, even though you now know they should have been more afraid of losing than you were of having a difficult conversation about doing the right thing. That is something you will have to do if you ever want to be a trusted advisor.A lot of mistakes you make in sales are avoidable. You will make errors, some forced, and many more unforced. It’s all part of the game.No one is undefeated in sales, and the best salespeople can share with you all the things they could have, should have, and would have done differently. They likely learned these things the same way you did. Some of them, if they are being honest, were the smartest person in the room when they were young, and didn’t believe the principles of sales applied to them.Unless you really, really like a mistake, there is no reason to repeat it. If you don’t like the outcomes that follow mistakes, then you need to correct them so that you produce a different outcome in the future.last_img read more
