first_imgEvent was final of the regular seasonTERRE HAUTE, Ind. – In her regular-season finale as a member of the University of Evansville women’s golf team, senior Kayla Katterhenry took top honors at the Indiana State Spring Invitational at the Country Club of Terre Haute on Monday.Katterhenry shot a 2-under 70 in Monday’s final round to finish with a score of 145, four ahead of her nearest competition.  The victory came in a competitive field that featured four other Missouri Valley Conference programs.  It is also a nice finish to the spring regular season slate as the conference championship is up next from Sunday through next Tuesday.Second on the squad was Maggie Camp.  She made a nice jump from her opening round tally, improving by eight strokes.  After notching an 82 on Sunday, Camp carded a 74 on Monday to tally a 156 for the event, tying for 13th.Next up was Giulia Mallmann.  Her final-round score of 85 gave her a score of 165, tying her for 43rd.  Madison Chaney was two behind Mallmann, finishing with a 167.  She carded an 86 in the last round.  Maria Pickens saw a 5-stroke improvement in day two, posting an 84 on her way to a 173.Lexie Sollmann posted a 2-round total of 162 as an individual, coming home in a tie for 33rd.  Her rounds checked in at 82 and 80.  Carly Waggoner was UE’s other individual, posting a 181.Evansville took 6th place in the tournament with a tally of 631, just three behind 5th-place Drake.  Indiana State took top team honors in a dominating way, registering a 286 in the last round.  It was the only team score in either day to check in under a 307.  They won by eight shots over Western Illinois.FacebookTwitterCopy LinkEmailSharelast_img read more

first_img“A voyage of fun and discovery awaits the children of Donegal at this year’s Wainfest 2016” – that’s according to the organisers in the Cultural Services team in Donegal County Council.Sinéad mcLaughlin who has been part of the team organising this year’s event says that “this year’s Children’s Arts and Book festival, which runs from the 8th to 15th October, offers the very best in performance for children aged 4 – 12 years of age”.Wainfest 2016 will be officially launched by former Donegal GAA County footballer and 2012 All Ireland medal winner Eamon McGee on Friday 23 September in the Central Library, Letterkenny and features a wonderful selection of events to be enjoyed by children in libraries and taobh tire points right across the county, including revolting rhymes, cartoon workshops, science shows, theatre productions and much much more. Family events will be hosted on Saturday the 8th and 15th October and have been inspired by Roald Dahl, children’s literary genius who would have celebrated his 100th birthday this year.Gloriumptious Story Parties in venues across Donegal on Saturday 8th October will allow children to have the chance to delve into their creative sides with activities and games while enjoying a Roald Dahl story.And on Saturday 15 October cinemas all over the county will have special screenings of ‘The BFG’ the new film adaptation of the Roald Dahl’s classic book.Cllr Terence Slowey, Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council believes that Wainfest embodies all that is core to the work of the Cultural Services division of the Council, saying “Donegal County Council believes that promoting and supporting arts, culture, heritage and language is good for our society, our economy and our national identity both at home and abroad. This has always been and always will be one of our enduring strengths. Our culture helps to create a deepened sense of place, citizenship and pride of place in all sections of our society, including our very youngest members. Wainfest is at the core of this and is one of the ways in which we reach out to them”. With an extensive schools programme as well as family events; parents, carers and teachers are invited to bring along their children to something tailored just for them.
