first_imgMarket intelligence: CAPA Executive Chairman Peter Harbison More than 120 airline staff from around Australia gathered in Sydney’s ParkRoyal Hotel this week for the annual 2011 Star Alliance Conference.Attendees were updated on current and planned activities by the world’s leading alliance – which now counts 27 members – with this year’s keynote address delivered by Nanci Cheberenchick, Star Alliance Director, Sales & Marketing, The Americas and Asia Pacific.Peter Harbison, Executive Chairman of aviation market intelligence, analysis and data services company CAPA, also addressed the conference with a wide ranging presentation entitled “Alliances, Asia and an outburst of LCC’s”.The conference ended with the announcement of the 2011 ‘Star of the Year’ winners, each of the whom had scored top marks after completing 10 Star Alliance training modules during the past 12 months.This year’s winners included Caroline Sydney (SAS), Robin Kim (Asiana), Gina Kang (Asiana), Stephanie Constance (South African Airways), Julia Kim (Asiana), Kirren Trendoren (THAI), Stella Hwang (Asiana) and Hager Obeng (South African Airways).
