Congregation members from various churches in Ladysmith gathered on the hilltop at Platrand Lodge late yesterday afternoon (October 19) for a ‘Mass Prayer for Rain’.Prompted by the drought situation that Ladysmith and the whole of South Africa is currently facing, the prayer started at 5.30pm with Ladysmith Christians fervently asking God to send rain to heal the drought-stricken land.Everyone prayed that the Holy Spirit would pour rain down onto our town.According to a recent notice from uThukela District Municipality, the drought is now at its worst in Ladysmith, prompting them to tighten water restrictions even more. Ladysmith is currently facing its worst drought in 50 years, and people are urged to save water and use this precious resource wisely. A positive sign indeed, but much more of the same is needed if the ‘dry spell’ is to be reversed and water restrictions eventually lifted.DID YOU KNOW?Click on the words highlighted in red to read more on this and related topics. If you are reading this on your cellphone and there are telephone numbers provided in the text, you can call these simply by clicking on them.To receive news links via WhatsApp.For the latest news, visit our webpage or follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
